Romeo and Juliet – First Meeting Summary

Here is my summary on Romeo and Juliet’s first meeting:
Romeo enters the party with Mercutio and Benvolio. The first thing that he sees is Juliet with another man. He immediately asks a servant about who she is with, and the response is that she is with Paris. Romeo immediately tells his friends about her dazzling beauty, before making his way to her and taking her hand. Then, he asks for a kiss, saying to Juliet, ‘My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand, to smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss.’ He then, while exchanging conversation with Juliet, kisses her once more. During this time, he seems to talk quite self-depreciatingly, while complimenting Juliet. One of the things that he says to her, while asking for a kiss, is the following; ‘If I profane with my unworthiest hand, this holy shrine, the gentle sin is this.’ This shows that he really loves Juliet and values her extremely highly. After the second kiss, a nurse tells Juliet that her mother has requested her. This is the end of the meeting.
